Tom Menard, Owner

Tom Menard opened Bayside bicycles in Brewster back in 1979. The Cape Cod Rail Trail was in the planning stages, so he took the chance that he would be successful enough to raise his young family here on Cape Cod. In 1980 he moved his shop to Orleans and renamed it Nauset Cycle, which is now occupied by the Dunkin Donuts. Orleans Cycle opened on Main Street (now Cape Cup), and moved down Main Street next to the planned Rail Trail Extension in 1991. Tom has spent a lot of years working on all kinds of bikes and is still a hands-on shop owner. he has a love of many sports, and depending on the season, can be found fishing, mountain biking, or surfing. For the last 25 winters tom has been a ski instructor in Vail, Colorado, where he rides his bike to the mountain every single day.

Throughout all of those years Tom has sold many bike brands and has had many knowledgeable employees. For the past 20 years he has been proud to carry both the Trek and Specialized Brands. Trek and Specialized brands are the number one and two national brands in terms of sales, respectively.

Here at Orleans Cycle we are very proud of our staff, so why don't we introduce them...

Doug Jordan, Service Manager

Doug has been getting his hands dirty in the bike business for more years than he can even remember. Doug made many friends and developed lots of devoted customers at Cove Cycle in Orleans and Hyannis. Five years ago, when the owner of Cove Cycle retired, we hired Doug to join our happy team here at Orleans Cycle. Over the years he has become a real leader among the mountain bike enthusiasts on the Cape. He's a member of the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) and the New England Mountain Biking Association (NEMBA). He has a wealth of information about mountain bike trails all over Cape Cod and is always ready to share. Doug has a blast every year riding in the Last Gasp and volunteering with the organization. He loves his Jeep and is an active member of the Cape Cod Jeep Club. He sings a lot and plays the guitar...He's a cool guy and we're glad he's around.

Devin Enos

Devin started hanging around the shop after school when he was twelve. Since those days, he's gone from sweeping the floors and emptying the trash to being a fine young gentleman with a lot of years in the business. Devin is an experienced mechanic and a valued guy around the shop. He is an excellent surfer and mountain biker. For the last several years he's enjoyed his winter months in Vail, Colorado, snowboarding and working as an assistant manager in a large ski shop...guess that's why he's always smiling.

Susie Menard, Shop Manager

Susie is Tom's wife and has worked at Orleans Cycle for the past five years. We have a busy shop and she's just trying to keep it well stocked, organized, and make customers happy. She loves to commute to work on her bike and also enjoys those winters in Colorado. Catching the biggest striped bass on the boat is her goal every summer...and sometimes it happens!

Matt Van Gelder

Matt, pictured left

Matt has been working in a bike shop since he was twelve years old. He bought his first real mountain bike from a local shop in Harwich, and a few weeks later began sweeping and emptying trash at the shop. Ever since then, he's been fixing, riding, and selling bikes. Matt has worked with so many different brands of bikes over the years, he can't keep count. Matt loves to ride in the local charity ride, The Last Gasp, every year. Matt is currently working towards a degree in financial services at Bryant University, in Smithfield, Rhode Island. He's our new wrench here at Orleans Cycle, and we're glad to have him.
